My Ears Delight

It's funny that as I've gotten older I am enjoying things that used to, well, drive me crazy!!  I have developed a love for everything bird related ... even the chirping I heard this morning outside.  In my 20's I would have thrown my pillow at my window and grumbled about their unnecessary chirping.  Today however their song brought a smile to my face and delight to my ears.  It's not much but it's a wonderful way to start a day!

A Good Thing!

Anyone who knows me knows that coffee is a staple in our house. It's usually at the top of the grocery list because there's no greater annoyance than waking up on a Sunday morning and not having coffee aromas to fill the house. And when dreaming about this delicious palate pleaser, there's the #1 place to get it ... Smith's Coffeehouse in Arcanum. On any given day you will find Bennett and I there playing Jenga or reading the kids books that are piled in a basket flanking the fireplace. I will always have a cup of joe in my hand and usually a smile on my face! This afternoon we ventured out with Grandma Carlos, as Bennett calls her, to Smith's for lunch and coffee. I was quite intrigued when I read the daily brew was "Creamy Spring Fling" ... and it did NOT disappoint! While I was sitting talking to my momma I decided to whip out the camera phone and take some pics of this oh-so worthy place that I frequent numerous times a week. I love checking out the new antiques that have found their way in, the everchanging placement of big, old jelly cupboards, benches, and such. If you've never been, make your way over to our quiet little town and come thirsty because it's a good thing!

G-rage Sale & Antiquing Too!

So my friend, Lovey, and I went over to a kids garage sale today held at a church and boy was it crazazy! Long lines and not tons of great finds:( Afterwards we hit a cute antique shop called Midwest Antiques in Tipp City. Lots of great finds there! Some scary stuff too which always makes for laughs! It's good to just spend time with an old friend ... even if it's just catching up. Thanks prish!

Sorry it's blurry ... camera phones - ugh! I abso love this whole display but especially the long farm table w/ the zinc top ... so adorable!

Really love these glass and metal nesting tables. They kind of have a verdigris patina. The picture doesn't do them justice.

My dream is to one day have an old remodeled farmhouse full of rooms with chandeliers! Like this one ...

...and this one! Wouldn't this look amazing in a laundry room???

All Things Green

So Bennett talked daddy and I into going on an "adventure" tonight through the woods behind our local park. I took the camera along to capture "all things green". What the lens didn't capture? The scratches on my ankles (don't wear capris on a nature hike), me tripping numerous times, a branch in the eye, nor the hubs and I huffing and puffing wondering "when will this end?" Despite all of that, it was nice to finally see life springing up again and of course spending quality time with my two favorite guys! Today was a big day for us in regards to some future plans for our family. I prayed this morning that God would give me a clear sign as to what path he wants us on. It's scary starting something new, however, seeing this "new life" springing up everywhere tonight made me realize that it may be scary but it can also be a beautiful thing!!! Thanks for the reminder God!

Sticking to My Day Job!

Well, I confirmed to myself tonight that I am not cut out for public speaking! I was asked, and was more than willing, to speak @ The Missionary Church's district camp banquet meeting about our family's experience at camp this past summer. Well ... I got through it at least. I talk extremely fast especially when I'm nervous, it's the Mexican in me, and a couple of the guys from PV were doing the "whoo whoo whoo" that Arsenio Hall used to do. That's always a great way to calm the nerves! Thanks guys! The food and fellowship were wonderful and the best part is that God's message was shared and felt.

Tomorrow I am off to one of my most favorite places ... drumroll ... The Ivy League! My friend Katie is going to help me revamp my home decor for spring/summer. She did this for me at the beginning of winter and oh how I loved it!!! I'm super excited, probably won't sleep tonight, but will post pics tomorrow of the before and afters. Her ideas are always amazing and she helps get my creative side going! Hopefully she can give me some ideas of what to do with the fabric I've been buying off of ebay. Especially since I can't even sew a button on a shirt ... NO JOKE people!

Welcome!

Welcome to my blog! Funny enough, this time in my life is anything but "silent" however I am trying to quiet my mind and fully listen to where God is wanting me to be right now. My husband Cory and I have a lot of new adventures that we are praying about and I'm typically a planner, thinker, worrier. However as of late I have come to realize that I can't hear God's will when I'm too busy thinking about my own ... hence "A Silent Season". To just tell you a little bit about us first off we are both living our lives for our Savior, Jesus Christ, and doing our best to raise our son up the way He guides us. Our son, Bennett Carlos, is 5 years old and we feel truly honored to be his parents. 4 1/2 years ago we were blessed with his coming into our lives through our rollercoaster, yet wonderful, experience of adoption. I have been able to stay at home with Bennett ever since we brought him home from Guatemala and let me just say, it's the hardest and most rewarding job I could ever have imagined!! But just knowing that God had a perfect plan and kept us waiting for THIS child, is indescribable! He has more than abundantly loved us, provided for us, and protected us over the past 11 years of marriage. As I said before we are in the midst of a lot of decisions; our home is for sale, we are praying about where Bennett will be at school this fall, where our new home will be, a second adoption has been in our hearts and on our minds, and what God has in store for me as I move into a new chapter of being a stay-at-home mom. I hope to bring a little day-to-day humor to this blog ... my son is the funniest! I also am dabbling in some new "ventures" because I love decorating, shopping for antiques and flea market finds, crafting, and suddenly fashion! Who knew? I also love to serve and hope to bring to light many opportunities for our family to do so. My hope is that you will enjoy this blog and that in a few years I will be able to look back and have some great memories!!!
